Two proposals to pipe gas to Prince Rupert are still alive, even though the LNG plants they would feed are dead in the water
The BC Environmental Assessment Office has approved five-year extensions for the construction start on Enbridge’s Westcoast Connector Gas Transmission Project and TransCanada’s Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project.
The TransCanada pipeline was to feed the Petronas LNG project at Lelu Island while the Enbridge project was to feed the BG Group facility at Ridley Island.
The province gave the green light to both pipeline projects in 2014, but the LNG export facilities were cancelled.
