Residents may see smoke about 36 km south of Williams Lake in the coming weeks.
The BC Wildfire Service says a 72-hectare prescribed burn is scheduled to take place west of Place Lake and east of Alkali Lake between April 29 and May 17.
The managed, low-intensity burn is aimed at restoring traditional grassland plants and reducing the risk of wildfires by eliminating flammable material.
The burn is part of an ongoing ecosystem restoration program in consultation with First Nations, ranchers, forest licensees, and others.
The fire will only go ahead if site, weather, and venting conditions are suitable.
