An agreement has been proposed which would see the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George supply FortisBC with a source of renewable fuel.
At their meeting last week, District Board Members proposed a 20-year deal to have Fortis purchase landfill gas from their Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill.
Under the agreement, the District would receive between 75 and 145 thousand dollars annually for the renewable natural gas source.
Fortis would be responsible for constructing and operating the required plant on the site, should the agreement be approved.
Given the span of the agreement, the District must first seek elector approval.
