Linda Innes has defeated incumbent Clifford White to become the new Chief Councillor for the Gitxaala Nation.
Elections for the Nation’s elected Chief and Council spots took place yesterday, with Innes taking 157 total votes for the Chief spot.
Outgoing Chief Councillor Clifford White took home the second most votes with 124 out of the 472 total votes counted.
Innes was a frequent surname on the ballot, with Bruce Innes taking the deputy Chief spot, and Keith Innes nabbing a Council seat.
Also elected as councillors were Phillip Gamble, Joseph Lewis, and Warren Nelson.
