Planned burning could result in smoke being visible in the Smithers area over the next month and a half.
As part of a multi-year FireSmart project to reduce wildfire fuels, pile burning will begin as early as today.
Members of the BC Wildfire Service will be burning debris piles throughout 10 hectares of land in the Call Lake Provincial Park area.
Burning of the piles, resulting from pruning and thinning activities from last year, will wrap up by May 31st.
