Telkwa residents may not be facing as large of a tax hike as initially pitched afterall.
Thanks to a 3.6 million dollar infrastructure grant from the province, the Village will be cutting th proposed 5 percent water and sewer rates increase to just 2 percent.
Public feedback on property tax assessments also played a part in the decision.
No decision was announced regarding where the new grant funding will be applied.
Council will make a decision on that prior to thier May 14th meeting, where they will vote to pass their 2019 budget.
