BC Wildfire crews will be conducting six prescribed burns across the Cariboo-Chilcotin over the course of the next month.
With the goal of restoring natural grassland ecosystems, the burns will be overseen by the Ministry of Forests Ecosystem Restoration Program.
Smoke may be visible in the Williams Lake and Esket areas while the burns are taking place.
Four of the burns will take place between 3 and 12 kilometres north of Esket, one will be 4 kilometres south of Esket, and the final burn will be conducted 30 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.
Burns could begin as early as today, weather permitting, and will wrap up by May 3rd.
