The Northwest Fire Centre is trying to cut down the risk of preventable wildfires.
Officials are reminding people to use caution with outdoor burning given the recent mild, dry weather.
Those thinking of doing some open burning should ensure the weather conditions are right, create a fireguard, have enough resources on hand to prevent flames escaping, and never leave a fire unattended.
Anyone planning a large-scale industrial burn or a grass burn larger than 0.2 hectares needs a burn registration number ahead of time.
The Northwest Fire Centre is also asking residents to be on the lookout for smoke in areas of previous wildfire activity which could indicate
an overwintering fire from 2018.
Terrace fire crews were called out to grass fire near Uplands school Friday afternoon, but the cause is not known at this time.
