Jason La Rochelle has been selected as the new Director of the Justice Institute of BC’s Office of Indigenization.
La Rochelle is a member of the Haida Nation from Old Massett.
Previously, La Rochelle has held prominent roles in Indigenous Education, a field he has been involved in for two decades.
He served as instructor, program coordinator, program manager, and Dean of Academics at the Native Education College, and is a graduate of UBC.
In his new role, La Rochelle will help to foster respect and understanding of the cultures, traditions, and languages of Indigenous Peoples.
He will also continue to strengthen the JIBC’s committment to understanding the historical, social, and economic conditions of Indigenous communities.
