In a report released today, the Office of the Auditor General found BC Hydro to be effectively managing cybersecurity risks.
Nonetheless, the audit still resulted in 3 recommendations being made to tighten up possible vulnerabilities.
Those recommendations focus on assessing cybersecurity risks, maintaining an inventory of software and hardware, and implementing real time detection and monitoring mechanisms.
Overall, the Office found the utility to be meeting the mandatory reliability standards accepted in Canada and the US.
But the Office says cybersecurity is no longer about simply preventing attacks, but also about quick detection and response to threats.
