What started off as a simple traffic stop in Prince George on Wednesday resulted in a brief chase and the seizure of weapons and drugs.
Early Wednesday morning, an RCMP officer attempted to pull a vehicle over on Strathcona Avenue after witnessing a Motor Vehicle Act violation.
When the driver refused to stop, the officer attempted to block the vehicle in at the end of the street, resulting in the driver colliding with the police vehicle.
Officers then searched the vehicle, where they discovered bear spray, knives, and what is believed to be fentanyl.
Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken in to custody.
33 year-old Michael Daniel Jakins, the driver of the vehicle, was found to be wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Jakins is facing charges of assaulting an officer with a weapon, failure to stop, and other weapons related offenses.
