Seven Secwepemc communities have signed a long-term collaboration agreement with the provincial government.
During a ceremony yesterday, leaders from the Nation signed a Letter of Commitment with the goal of implementing inherent rights, and improving community well being and government to government relationships.
So far the letter has been signed by Minister of Indigenous Relations Scott Fraser, and Environment Minister George Heyman.
Minister of Forests and Lands Doug Donaldson, and Energy and Mines Minister Michelle Mungall also intend to sign the agreement.
Under the agreement, the pair will work together to craft a pathway to true and long-lasting reconciliation over the next two years.
