With the flood season fast approaching, the Cariboo Regional District is urging residents to begin preparations now.
Flooding is a massive concern in the region as snowpacks begin to melt with the warmer spring weather.
In order to help residents prepare, the District is making sand bags available at their Wildwood and Miocene Fire Departments, free of charge.
Supplies are limited, so if you are in need of sand bags, you should take the opportunity as soon as possible.
In addition, the CRD is recommending residents follow 4 steps to ensure their properties are prepared for emergency situations.
First, you should assess your properties for any possible drainage issues, then prepare an emergency plan with members of your household, and have a basic emergency kit prepared.
