Upgrades are on the way for the Williams Lake airport thanks to a 1.5 million dollar grant.
Funding will come from the Airports Capital Assistance Program and will go towards lighting, electrical, and runway improvements.
Currently, the airport is not in compliance with TP 312 fifth edition aerodome electrical and lighting standards.
To meet electrical standards, all underground conduits and conductors will also be replaced.
City Council signed a contribution agreement for the funding at their March 5th council meeting.
On top of the electrical upgrades, new runway fixtures, airfield signage, and a replacement for a 35 year old generator are on the way.
