In a show of respect for those who served, the City of Quesnel will be dedicating a portion of a popular street to veterans.
On Tuesday, City Council approved a request to designate the 200 block of Kinchant Street as Veterans’ Way.
Though the street will officially still be named Kinchant street, signage and banners will be put up featuring the new name.
At a price tage of 17 thousand 500 dollars total, two extra sign posts and four banner poles will be installed along the stretch.
Council plans to position one of the banner poles on the Legion’s lot, which is located in the dedicated area, with their permission.
Before the plans can be finalized, Council must determine any possible safety risks associated with the positioning of the new signs.
Council also intends to reach out to the Farmers’ Market to discuss possibly displaying similar banners in October and November.
