Quesnel has been shortlisted for more than 240 thousand dollars in disaster mitigation funding.
If the city is able to secure the funding, it would come from the National Disaster Mitigation Program, in order to complete a Flood Hazard Study.
Part of that study includes a flood risk assessment, mapping, and mitigation planning.
City Council will find out whether or not they’ve secured the funding sometime in April.
In the meantime, Council has approved an application for a 150 thousand dollar Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for flood planning.
