For the first time in the history of the two Nations, the Tahltan were invited on to Nisga’a territory to reaffirm their Nation-to-Nation relationship during Hobiyee.
Chiefs from both nations first made peace with each other way back in 1898, which was affirmed in 1977 during a Terrace meeting.
In 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two Nations, establishing an official Nation-to-Nation relationship.
On Friday, the Nations participated in a signing ceremony to continue their commitment to the Memorandum.
During that ceremony, the Nations also agreed to form an alliance, paving the way to closer work between the pair going forward.
