A lawsuit is being filed against Enbridge by the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation following a pipeline explosion in their territory last October.
On October 9th of last year, a natural gas pipeline near Shelley exploded, leading to the evacuation of roughly 100 residents.
Chief Dominic Frederick announced the lawsuit during a conference in Prince George today.
Chief Frederick says that it was clear to the Nation that Enbridge cared more about providing heat to the Southern Mainland than the safety of the evacuees.
Part of the lawsuit also includes an ask for a pre-trial injunction to shut down the two pipelines in Lheidli T’enneh territory, as well as a permanent shut down and removal of Enbridge pipelines in the territory.
Both Enbridge Inc and West Coast Energy Inc are named defendants in the case.
