Changes to the Local Government Act are among a slew of legislative changes proposed today.
Under the proposed changes, Regional Districts will be able to assist businesses in bringing high-speed internet to underserved communities.
Ammendments to the Act will also remove a requirement in relation to notices of assent voting.
Those proposed changes coincide with the government’s recognition that access to high-speed internet services is now a basic need.
Changes to 4 other acts are included in the proposal, dubbed the municipal affairs and housing statuses ammendment 2019.
