Access to safe and secure housing is coming soon for dozens of homeless in Smithers.
Holding its grand opening today, the Goodacre Place 24-unit supportive housing project will begin welcoming residents in March.
Located at 3896 Railway Avenue, the modular apartment building is the result of a partnership between the province and Town of Smithers.
6.1 million dollars in capital funding for the project was provided by the Building BC: Rapid Response to Homelessness program.
When the facility is fully operational, residents will be charged a monthly rent of 375 dollars, and the unit will be operated by the Smithers Community Services Association.
