Multiple inspections in to water storage in the Kiskatinaw watershed near Dawson Creek have spawned eight investigations.
Over the summer and fall of 2018, natural resource officers conducted reviews of 49 structures which included dams and man-made dugouts.
Each of these structures was evaluated for compliance with water diversion and dam construction rules in the Water Sustainability Act.
As a result of these inspections, eight formal invetigations have been launched, four violation tickets worth 920 dollars total have been handed out, and one warning ticket was issued.
The remaining investigations will be completed in the spring of 2019 and may lead to fines of as much as 1 million dollars for each offense.
