Don’t expect a thaw in the deep freeze gripping parts of the province just yet.
Environment Canada has continued extreme cold warnings for Bulkley Valley and the Lakes, Cariboo, Chilcotin, 100 Mile, Prince George, and Dease Lake.
Forecasters say a cold Arctic airmass has settled over the Central Interior bringing frigid temperatures and winds to produce wind chill values below minus 40 degrees Celsius Sunday.
Wind chill values will rise slightly to the mid minus 30s for Sunday afternoon but will lower again at night to near minus 40.
Dease Lake could see a windchill temperature of minus 45 again Sunday night.
Environment Canada says the extreme cold puts young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter at the highest risk.
