Former Smithers Councilor and Bukley Valley MLA Bill Goodacre has passed away.
Goodacre, who passed away Sunday night, served multiple terms on the town’s council between 1990 and 2018.
In 1996, he left municipal politics for a breif stint on the provincial circuit before returning to the local level in 2002.
Last year, Goodacre retired from politics to focus on his health, and was awarded the Freedom of the Minicipality, the highest honour the town can bestow.
Goodacre was 67 years old.
