A couple of Terrace businesses got lucky and avoided a lotto scam, but RCMP say a third got burned.
Police say a woman tried to cash a fake $500 instant-win pull-tab ticket last Friday, but the business recognized it was a fake, refused payout, and kept it.
RCMP received a similar report from another business from the day before.
Investigators say another business didn’t catch the fake ticket until after it had issued the payout Saturday.
Mounties are investigating, but say the suspects in each case have different descriptions.
