The province is expanding helicopter logging operations near Williams Lake to slow the spread of Douglas fir beetles.
Crews have been working for the past month in a region southwest of the city, the South Lakeside area, and a site further south off Anderson Road.
Operations will expand to North Lakeside on Fox Mountain and the Slater Mountain area west of Williams Lake as early as next week.
Officials say heli-logging is used to selectively remove infested trees and protect other trees nearby.
The province says the selective logging and other containment treatments have helped slow the spread of the beetles around Williams Lake.
The forests ministry expects the operation to be done by mid-March.
