Kitimat based lobby group the North Matters could be expanding in to Smithers.
Roughly 50 residents showed up to an information session held by the industry lobby group in the City earlier in the week.
The North Matters is a group founded to show support for industrial development projects in the north, such as LNG Canada’s Kitimat project and its Coastal GasLink pipeline.
According to the group, those opposed to projects tend to be louder than those in support of them, something they hope to change by expanding to locations across the north.
Smithers is just the first focus as the group looks to establish additional chapters outside of Kitimat.
