Better access to skills training and employment supports for survivors of abuse, as well as the elderly, are on the way in 2019.
6.4 million dollars total has been invested in the provincial government’s Survivors of Violence and Abuse program, and Older Workers 55+ program.
Both programs will feature skills training and supports to help break down barriers that these groups can face when seeking long term employment.
The programs will be made available regardless of Employment Insurance eligibility.
More than 300 victims of abuse and more than 400 elderly workers will reap the benefites of the new programs.
