According to Taseko Mines VP of Corporate Affairs Brian Battison, low copper prices are not affecting production at Gibraltar Mine.
Battison says that a 700 million dollar investment in electrical motors at the mine, north of Williams Lake, has lessened the impact of dwindling copper prices.
He went on to say that, thanks to low-cost producers, the mine is one of the most competative low-grade mining facilities in the world.
In the past, the mine had been forced to shut down operations due to low copper prices.
