Canadians rallied in over 55 communities Tuesday in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en members arrested by RCMP Monday along a forestry road near Houston.

Supporters called on the both the B.C. and federal governments to respect the will of Wet’suwet’en hereditary leaders who have not consented to the Coast GasLink pipeline coming through their unceded territory.
Downtown Vancouver streets were packed with demonstrators and hundreds of supporters also turned up at the B.C. legislature in Victoria.
Supporters braved cold conditions in Terrace, Smithers, and Prince George.
Gitxsan chiefs gathered with Wet’suwet’en chiefs to show their support in Hazelton this afternoon as well.

Protesters delayed an appearance by the prime minister in Ottawa, drumming and chanting in a government building where Justin Trudeau was set to speak.
The sounds of singing and drumming also filled the air at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square Tuesday.
Demonstrations are also being held in a number of US cities from Bellingham to New York as well as rallies in a number of European locations.
Skeena-Bulkley Valley NDP MP Nathan Cullen is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to break his silence on the dispute over construction of the gas pipeline through Wet’suwet’en territory.
