Fresh changes to Fair PharmaCare will eliminate prescription drug deductibles for lower income families.
Families earning less than 30 thousand dollars in total income will no longer have to pay out of pocket before receiving coverage assistance.
Previously a deductible of between 300 and 600 dollars would have to be paid out-of-pocket before prescriptions could be filled under the system.
Changes will also lower the deductible for families earning between 30 and 45 thousand annually, and for seniors born before 1940.
These changes, the first in the 15 year history of Fair PharmaCare, are thanks to a 3 year, 105 million dollar investment by the province.
