A class action lawsuit being filed against the Government of Britishi Columbia has the support of the Tahltan Central Government.
TCG President Chad Day says his government supports legal action being taken against the government over their ban on grizzly bear hunting.
The lawsuit proposed by Ron Flemming, owner of a guided hunting company, alleges that more than 2 thousand people employed by 245 guide outfitting businesses are being harmed by the ban.
Though the ban excludes First Nations who hunt for food or ceremonial reasons, Day says the economic ban placed on surrounding communities has hurt his people culturally, and negatively affected salmon populations.
The class-action must first be approved by the court before the suit is allowed to continue.
