A series of recent fraudulent credit card transactions has Quesnel RCMP warning businesses to remain vigilant.
According to police, there have been several reported incidents of fraudulent one-off transactions at businesses lately, often due to customers entering card numbers manually.
These types of transactions are often being conducted over the phone, without a physical copy of the card ever being presented.
RCMP are warning businesses not to conduct one-off purchases over the phone, and to request either a physical copy of the card, or expiry dates and verification codes from the cards.
Businesses are often not covered by financial institutions if they are victims of this type of fraud.
