Crime in Williams Lake is on the way down, according to an RCMP report from earlier this week.
Although police actually saw more calls for service in 2018 compared to 2017, crime in most areas has seen a significant downward trend.
There were exceptions to the rule though as crimes related to impaired driving, thefts from vehicles, drug related offenses, collisions, and robberies all saw increases over last year.
Thefts from vehicles and robberies saw the most significant increases in calls, with 123 percent and 90 percent jumps respectively.
According to Inspector Jeff Pelley, the rise in drug related offenses can be attributed to proactive targetting of drug traffickers and offenders introduced in 2018.
Overall, police saw drops in 11 of 18 trends measured within the City in 2018.
