A new government plan aims to have BC selling only zero-emissions vehicles by 2040.
According to Premier John Horgan, legislation to enact the plan will be introduced in spring of next year.
Under the plan, 10 percent of all vehicles sold would be zero-emissions vehicles by 2025, 30 percent by 2030, and 100 percent by 2040.
In an effort to reduce air pollution and limit the effects of climate change, the government would inact policies to make zero-emissions vehicles more affordable as well.
These policies include: installing 151 electric vehicle charging sites, increasing funding in the incentive program to 57 million dollars, and reviewing and expanding the program over time.
BC already boasts the highest electric vehicle adoption rate in Canada.
