Increased penalties for high risk drivers in BC are set to take effect on November 1st.
Penalty amounts for both the Driver Risk Premium and Driver Penalty Point programs are slated to go up by 20 percent.
The DRP is applied annually to drivers convicted of dangerous offenses, while the DPP is a penalty for collecting 4 or more violation points in a 12 month period.
Revenue generated from the increased penalties is intended to offset basic insurance premiums so that safe drivers end up paying less.
