By midnight on Wednesday, Greyhound will have finished its final route in western Canada, but BC may be better covered than intitially thought.
According to Transportation Minister Claire Trevena, private operators will have moved in to cover 83 percent of evacuated Greyhound routes by year’s end.
Trevena believes that the numerous operators set to replace the routes will actually represent an improvement over Greyhound.
There are still 8 segments not covered by either the province’s Bus North program or private operators, most of which connect northeastern communities with Alberta and the Territories.
Trevena credited the Passenger Transportation Board’s efforts to fast-track applications with the quick replacements.
