Despite a recent flurry of celebrations, Kitimat’s LNG project may not be through all the obstacles just yet.
The National Energy Board announced yesterday that it is set to hear a jurisdictional challenge on the Coastal GasLink Pipeline which would fuel the project.
According to Smithers resident Michael Sawyer, who filed the challenge, the pipeline should be considered a federal undertaking rather than a provincial one.
As it stands, the pipeline has received approval from the BC Oil and Gass Commission, but if the pipeline is ruled federal jurisdiction it would need NEB approval.
The NEB is now set to accept all submissions for review relating to the pipeline until next Monday.
