A Pouce Coupe resident is facing fines of up to 75 thousand dollars and up to 2 years in jail for the mistreatment of a rottweiler.
Animal cruelty charges were approved by the BC SPCA against the owner of the rottweiler after its 2016 seizure.
According to animal protection officer Debbie Goodine, the dog was severely emaciated, registering a body conditioning score of just one out of nine.
The dog, which was also suffering from bladder and kidney infections, made a full recovery after being placed in a new home.
The resident also faces a lifetime ban on owning pets.
