A Conservative MP has appeared back in the House of Commons for the first time since a major health scare earlier this year.
Cariboo-Prince George’s Todd Doherty addressed the house, giving heartfelt thanks to staff and colleagues from all sides who sent well wishes to him in hospital.
Doherty also had a message for his fellow MPs about the importance of staying healthy.
Doherty was admitted to hospital in Prince George January 20 for emergency gallbladder surgery, but it later turned into multiple organ failure. His body came back from the brink and he’s been recovering at home before returning to the House of Commons Monday.
Doherty also singled out staff at the University Hospital of Northern BC for his treatment and thanked his family for their strength.
