Quesnel RCMP say a 74 year-old man was hypothermic, but otherwise okay after he was went missing for about 24 hours in heavy snow earlier this week.
Mounties say the man and his companion got stuck late Wednesday night while trying to drive along an unplowed driveway to his cabin in the Baker Creek area.
The man walked away from the vehicle. While his companion was able to leave the truck and hike into the cabin on her own, there was no sign of the man. After several hours not seeing her companion, she called police Thursday afternoon.
The first officer on scene found tracks leading into the bush, but after trying to follow them on snowshoes, determined that snowmobiles would be needed. Mounties from Wells and Quesnel approached the area on snowmobiles while they waited for Quesnel Search and Rescue and a police dog.
RCMP found the disoriented and chilly man at about 9:10 and took him to a nearby Cafe to warm up while an ambulance was called to transport him to hospital.
